National NAIDOC Week reaches its final weekend in Canberra with free community days, performances and guided tours across the city. The 2026 theme, 50 Years of Deadly, marks five decades of NAIDOC Week celebrating First Nations voices, cultures, achievements and community leadership.
NAIDOC in the North runs at Belco Arts Centre, 118 Emu Bank, Belconnen, from 11am to 2pm on Saturday 11 July. The free program brings together First Nations artists, performers, community organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations for a family-friendly day of art, performance and connection.
Poppyfield Commons at 75 Poppyfield Street, Dickson, hosts a free NAIDOC Community Day from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 11 July. The published program includes market stalls, food, live music, family activities, First Nations trivia and a closing water ceremony.
The Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House is offering its First Nations Experiences of Democracy tour free at 2pm each day until Sunday 12 July. The guided tour explores how First Nations Australians have created political and social change. Places need to be booked through the museum.
The Belconnen and Dickson community events overlap on Saturday, so allow travel time if you plan to visit both. The Old Parliament House tour also runs at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entry to all three programs is free, although the museum tour requires a booking. Check the organiser pages before leaving in case weather or capacity changes affect the program.
NAIDOC Week is First Nations led. Visitors can take part by listening, learning and following the guidance of event organisers and community hosts.
