ACT Health has lifted the blue-green algae alert on Lake Tuggeranong after three consecutive weeks of normal cell counts.

The lake had been closed to primary contact since late May after a bloom triggered the highest alert level. Cooler water temperatures and steady inflow from Tuggeranong Creek are credited with breaking the bloom.

Paddlers and swimmers are back as of Saturday, although ACT Health continues to recommend rinsing after contact, particularly for children and dogs.
