Wednesday evening's electricity demand in the ACT peaked at 720 megawatts, narrowly beating the previous winter record set in July 2019.
A run of minus-six mornings and an unusually still evening drove demand for heating and water-cycle pumps, while reduced rooftop solar yield pulled more from the grid.
Evoenergy says supply held without intervention. Demand is forecast to ease from Friday as the cold pool breaks down.
Households were asked to delay non-essential loads between 5 pm and 8 pm. Tariff-incentive participants reported peak credits of up to fifty cents per kilowatt-hour.
