Five Canberra breweries release a keg-only collab for Good Beer Week

Five Canberra breweries have collaborated on a single mid-strength lager for ACT Good Beer Week, available only on tap. This unique partnership brings together some of the most established names in the local craft scene, showcasing a collective effort to celebrate the territory's growing reputation as a hub for quality brewing.

Bentspoke, Capital, Pact, Zierholz and Capital Brewing pulled the brew on a shared system at the Capital site last month. By combining their expertise and specific brewing philosophies into a single batch, the group has created a drink that represents a true cross-section of the Canberra beer landscape. Each will pour the result at its own taproom from Thursday.

The 3.5 per cent lager is unfiltered and uses Hallertau hops grown under contract in Bungendore. The choice of a mid-strength profile reflects a commitment to sessionability, making it an accessible option for those looking to sample multiple offerings throughout the festival without the heavy impact of higher alcohol percentages.

The use of locally sourced hops from nearby Bungendore highlights the importance of the regional supply chain. By utilizing ingredients grown just outside the capital, these brewers are strengthening the ties between local agriculture and the final product found in a Canberra glass.

What to expect

Because the lager is unfiltered, patrons can expect a slightly cloudy appearance and a fresh, robust flavour profile that maintains the integrity of the Hallertau hops.
